India
October 28, 2026
Guwahati:Montra Electric has opened a new electric three-wheeler dealership in Guwahati, Assam, to expand its reach in the Northeast and make its passenger and cargo vehicles more accessible to customers. The dealership, operated by SK GROUP X (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., is located in Betkuchi in Kamrup Metropolitan district. It will provide vehicle sales, servicing and spare parts for the company's Super Auto passenger vehicle and Super Cargo delivery vehicle. The dealership was inaugurated on Wednesday, October 28, in the presence of Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric, and Sapan Kashyap, Managing Director of SK GROUP X (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. Customers, dealer partners and other representatives from the local transport sector also attended the event. The new outlet marks another step in the company's expansion across Northeast India, where it has established a network of 11 outlets and 35 service facilities over the past two years. Guwahati's position as the largest city and a major commercial centre in the Northeast makes it an important market for electric three-wheelers. The growing demand for passenger transport and last-mile deliveries has also created opportunities for electric vehicles in the region. The expansion comes as Assam sees growing adoption of electric vehicles. According to figures shared by the company, the state recorded 5,196 electric vehicle registrations in September 2026, of which 5,136 were electric three-wheelers. The figures highlight the growing role of electric three-wheelers in Assam's shift towards cleaner transport. These vehicles are increasingly relevant for passenger services and the movement of goods over short distances. Speaking at the inauguration, Jalaj Gupta said Northeast India remained an important growth market for Montra Electric, with Assam playing a central role in the company's plans. He said Guwahati's commercial activity, growing acceptance of electric mobility and expanding three-wheeler market made the city a suitable location for strengthening the company's network. Gupta added that the new dealership would bring the company's electric three-wheelers closer to customers while supporting the region's move towards cleaner transport. Sapan Kashyap said the partnership with Montra Electric would help bring its electric three-wheeler range to customers in Guwahati and nearby markets. He pointed to the city's growing transport and last-mile delivery needs, adding that the dealership would focus on providing dedicated sales and service support to customers. Kashyap said the company was committed to providing customers with a positive ownership experience and helping them shift to electric vehicles with confidence. The new dealership will offer two vehicles from Montra Electric's range: the Super Auto, designed for passenger transport, and the Super Cargo, intended for carrying goods and supporting last-mile deliveries. The vehicles are aimed at meeting the changing needs of passengers, transport operators and businesses involved in local deliveries. The inauguration was followed by the delivery of vehicles to customers, indicating growing interest in electric three-wheelers in the region. With the new Guwahati outlet, Montra Electric plans to improve access to its vehicles and after-sales services across key markets in India. The company said its expansion was part of its broader effort to support the country's shift towards cleaner transportation.
